1963 Warre

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Oporto bottled. A bottle ullaged by 1/3rd. Pale amber colour. Nosing of brandy and spirit. On the palate there is focused grapefruit peel acidity and a hint of acacia honey mixed in with oxidative resin. The finish is long and tasty, bitter-sweet grapefruit and Seville Orange peel. Nothing like a typical Warre 1963, but certainly drinkable. If this was to be rated on its merits it would score around 81, but that would be unfair on this wine from a badly compromised bottle. 81/100. Drunk 20-Mar-15. Pop 'n' pour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
