2011 Cockburn

Post by AHB » 12:21 Sat 02 May 2015

Purple in tone, opaque with a narrow purple rim. Lovely on the nose, soft and fragrant, full of sweet blueberry and flowers. Lovely sweet fruit on the palate with concentrated blueberry; initially this has a lovely balance and elegance. Plenty of fruit with lots of perfume and a good dose of acidity but the tannins are swamped by the fruit and only really show on the long black licorice finish. Although with air the tannins reveal themselves on the palate as very fine grained. The finish is excellent and very long with just a touch of heat part-way through. This is delicious and elegant and still drinking extremely well. 93/100. Drunk 23-Apr-15.
Top Port in 2017 (so far): Graham Stone Terraces 2015 and Quinta do Vesuvio 1994
2016 Port of the year: Cockburn 1908
