Bottling date unknown, but estimated from the bottle design to be in the late 1970s. From Jose Fernandez Cruz. Honey brown colour, light green rim. VA on the nose, plastic and unpleasant. Smooth on the palate, gentle honey but not very flavoursome. Late on the palate some earthiness shows but this is faded and very much a drying port. Right at the end of the palate there is a little tawny flavour and some lively acidity in the thick sweetness. A good dose of acidity shows on the finish, huge length of orange acidity and a bitter orange oil concentrate. Very difficult to assess because of the poor initial impact but great late palate and finish. 88/100.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
