Mature red in colour with hints of brown in the wide rim. Very pleasant on the nose, attractive and full of fruit with the characteristic spiciness of mature port but with a delicious slight earthiness to it. On the palate this is fresh and lively, full of white peppercorns and curry leaf mixed in with the sweet red fruits. Big on the palate with a lovely balance. The texture is slightly watery but the flavours are terrific and mouthfilling. The big aftertaste is based around the tannins, but this quickly gives way to the long fruit finish although the tannins continue to add a touch of chewiness. A pleasant surprise. 92/100. 06-May-15.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
