1994 Quinta de la Rosa

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Brick red in colour with an opaque centre. Bottle stink on the nose with deeper tones, but it is very smelly and unpleasant. The bottle stink flavours dominate the entry bringing burnt toast and hot rubber, very pungent palate. Acidic and sour, bitter and unpleasant. Burnt vanilla biscuits on the aftertaste, leading to a long burnt rubber finish. Acidic and sour finish, bitter and tannic. This is very unpleasant, but the sommelier told me that there was nothing wrong with the port and that this is what it should taste like. If true, this is one of the worst ports I have drunk. 64/100. 06-May-15.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
