2005 Quinta do Noval Silval

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Deep red, slightly scarlet on the rim. A gentle nose of stewed blackcurrants, lively but quite dense. Delightful entry, clear and fresh blackcurrant fruit with a mouthfilling presence. Big levels of blackcurrants and soft tannins. The big acidity is perfectly moulded and balanced. The aftertaste is slow and reluctant to deliver but eventually leads to a flavoursome and chewy finish. Very enjoyable - a good mid-term cellar defender. 88/100. 06-May-15.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
