1985 Fonseca

Brick red, 80% opaque. A lovely nose of blackcurrant cordial and fisherman's friends cough sweets. Delicious on the palate; smooth and with a great complexity. The tannins show late on the palate. It's lovely to leave this port on the palate and allow the flavours to come through. Spicy on the aftertaste and a burst of heat before a very long finish. This incredible port is just starting to hit its drinking window. 94/100. May 2015.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
