2008 Fonseca LBV

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled 2013. Deep red with a narrow rim and a rich appearance. Delicious nose that leaps out of the glass and is full of ripe fruit. Sweet and balanced entry with fruit up front supported by a good dose of acidity. The tannins are refined and subtle but give good support to the fruit. The fruit is fresh and lively but the extra 2 years in bottle has really benefitted the wine. A lovely aftertaste and finish, which is spicy and full of dark chilli chocolate. 89/100. May 2015.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
