2013 Dow Senhora da Ribeira

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Cask sample. An intense dark purple colour with no rim. Restrained on the nose with soft purple fruit that comes with a lovely lemon-grass twist. Soft and silky on entry but then a massive wave of tannins swamps the senses. The fruit is ripe, soft and round but the tannins are harsh, gripping and a touch green. Fruit and tannin dominate the aftertaste with the tannins fading quickly to leave the fruit and some flower perfume on the finish. Lovely, and very different from the Vesuvio shown alongside. 89-91/100. May 2015.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
