1947 Warre

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Low shoulder fill, rewaxed by Tom in 2012. Deep amber colour, 60% opaque. Oxidised nose, full of plastic and resin - not pleasant. A lovely texture on the palate, thick and rich. Rather hot and fiery with lots of the alcohol showing through (and this persisted over several hours) but with lovely baked, sweet fruit and a strong cleansing acidity. Chewy finish with bitter cranberry warmed by the strong spirit. An enjoyable port, despite the poor level. 86/100. Drunk 16/7/15 in the White Horse at Newport, Essex. Pop and pour.
