A shipper I have had little opportunity to sample. Would love to attend please...can I confirm nearer the time what I bring? (=I have no Vesuvio right now, but that can be rectified in the next few months!)

Yes, definitely in for this- I still regret not forking out for the BBR vertical a few years ago. Is it intention to stick to 89-00? I can certainly offer up 91. If you ask nicely Tom may even open his 18l of 94!!

Please add me to the list.

Is it intended to invite a trade guest or will this be a TPF only affair?

I have '96 and '97 on hand and may be able to help others adopt, if required (which would be with '07, '10 or '11).

You are in. I am easy about this; inviting a trade guest seems logical. The last Vesuvio with J Symmington was really good fun. DrDirk and I just thought we try to have such a tasting mark II.

Do not worry this time you will be able to close this gap!

Tasting in my eyes is about Quinta do Vesuvio ports (without Capella) 89 - 11. These could be up to 20 different Ports which could be just about the right width of a tasting for a Wednesday night...

Yes. This would be a decade after Rupert Symington and his sons hosted some of the old guard to a complete Vesuvio line-up at the quinta. Perhaps we should establish another port trade age-old tradition by having the same hosts?

Neither Wolfgang nor I were at that long-fabled event. Wolfgang: should Derek take charge of this?

I've just updated Wolfgang's list of people and vintages to see how we are doing in putting together a complete vertical.

Wolfgang - is IDN Dirk Niepoort or is it a mistype for IDJ (Ian Johns)?

We're doing well on the early vintages but have some big gaps on the later vintages. I also have 2006 in magnum which I could pull out of storage but have to warn people that this has had my feet immersed in the wine before it was bottled. With 22 vintages having been made and 12 people attending the maths says that each person should be contributing about 2 bottles. Wine Searcher has good availability on all the missing vintages at reasonable prices.

I think I have somewhere still a bt of 1999 Vesuvio. Also can I please reserve a place for a good friend of mine who attended the first Vesuvio tasting. Via him it also maybe possible to get to 08, 09 and 10.

Indeed! I am fine one of the Symmingtons to join our tasting but would not be keen us attempting to redo their event a decade ago. It should be a fun event imho and not an event with too much trade connection.

AHB organised the event at Vesuvio and I would suggest is a better option for this than I am.
