1987 Croft Roeda

Post by RonnieRoots »

Tasted August 2004:
Decanted (2,5 hours before first sip), lots of sediment present.

Rather light in colour, brownish, with light red centre. Doesn't give much on the nose, predomintantly leather and a tad alcoholic. Again lots of leather in the taste, some cherry chocolates and a bit of pepper. Starts rather sweet but finishes quite dry. Light bodied, hardly any tannins left. The finish is a bit too bitter.

This isn't a bad port. In fact, it's rather enjoyable. But it isn't a very good port either. It just doesn't have a whole lot to offer. But it is drinking nicely, and there is nothing offensive about it. I don't regret the 25 euros I paid for it. 84 RR points.

I managed to buy this at a reasonable price as well. Can't remember how much but it looked cheap enough to take a punt on. Haven't opened it yet but if it sits in the "enjoyable" section then I will not be disappointed.
