Re: Emergency. Soon. When?
We have nothing planned until 25th November. We are all going to die of acute Port deprivation. Which would be quite bad.
So an emergency is being declared. (Not as good as declaring a vintage, but that’s what harvest-time rain does.) What dates would be most convenient for an emergency?
The theme is the old classic, “Bring a bottle to share”.

Re: Emergency. Soon. When?
If this emergency is to occur within the next two weeks the only date I could be there is Monday 21st September.

Am game, and fairly flexible.
Will qualify the title of the event, for me alone as: 'bring a better bottle than last time..'

Decision: Monday 21st September. The next ‘Emergency’ will be ≈ 46 hours from now, at the B&F. I’ll reserve a table or room on Monday, depending on how many we will be. (So far we are JDAW, DRT, THRA.) Start time the usual 6½pm.DRT wrote:Monday 21st September.

Blind or sighted?
Possible theme variation. JDAW is to bring a bottle that DRT has tasted before. DRT is to bring a bottle that THRA has tasted before. THRA is to bring a bottle that JDAW has tasted before.
Edit: maybe the variation would be pointless silliness. Cancel that.

This is going to be a small group.
Would the current attendees object if I also brought along an aged claret to share with dinner?

Placemats added to first post.
I can print, but matrimonial instructions suggest that I might be 15 minutes the wrong side of punctual.

With only three people I think we can cope for 15 minutes without placemats.jdaw1 wrote:Placemats added to first post.

Is there any particular reason why SCP-DFS is being utterly unreasonable?

Ok, I just wanna know what the emergency is, and who declared it? It's interesting how sudden this 'emergency' came on. Something doesn't smell fresh in these Wiseman woods.
Oh, and just because it's a small bunch of you, doesn't mean that you can pretend that more will attend to justify 'extra' bottles to show up.
In any case, enjoy and have fun.

It was me.SCP-DFF wrote:Ok, I just wanna know what the emergency is, and who declared it?
I called the emergency using magical powers passed onto me through an ancient tradition that I cannot name on a public forum. Now that the emergency has been called it cannot be reversed and it certainly cannot be allowed to begin later than 6½pm on Monday 21st September 2015. Anyone who turns up after that time is in perilous danger.
Please don't put your beloved husband in harm's way.

And I was just about to post, of course blaming Derek.
Re: Mon 21 Sept 2015, B&F, An Emergency
Anna at the B&F has offered us the private room near the front door. I have emphasised that we are only three, and that, though delighted with that room, if a larger party should need it we could sit at a table in the main bar. Anna will be on duty tomorrow evening.
Derek: will your Claret be blind? Rephrased, do I need to make a decanter label for it?

I do hope so. I will be elsewhere tomorrow night but certainly will soon be in need of emergency aid. I anticipate an emergency occurring on or around 8th October.jdaw1 wrote:There can be another emergency.idj123 wrote:Away on hols next week but open to any dates after that.

I hadn't realised I would get an invite so quickly! I am in 2016 budget planning hell with work at the moment, so realistically 6.30 would be a push but could be there for 7ish? I don't want to be late for my first meeting, so please let me know if that is a problem. If it is fine, some advice on what to bring along would be appreciated.
Bring a bottle, pre-decanted if you can, blinded if you can. If you can’t, not.

As explanation for Simon, the left bottle is not the original bottle of that Port. It is merely a disposable decanter.
