1820 Ferreira

1820 D. Antonia A. Ferreira Garrafeira

Anyone interested in flying to Florida to help me complete this TN?

Reputable establishment lists this bottle for a reasonable price...

Depending on timing, I might be persuaded.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

Sorry to have been a tease, chaps. Just got off the phone with Brad, who sadly confirmed that they have sold the last bottle of this wine (which apparently the owner had bought at a Christie's auction in London 50+ years ago).

sigh...

Does anyone mind if I move this thread to the Port Conversations forum? If we leave this thread in the Tasting Notes forum it will show up in the tasting notes index and then disappoint anyone who refers to it in years to come.

I may have been drunk before

But I am drunk now

Well, let’s say there are unknown quantities of Portuguese treasures lurking in the vast and undisturbed cellars of this fabulous restaurant (maybe or maybe not including a lone bottle of the aforementioned 1820 d.a.f.g.)

I have told the owner I will put 5k down to demonstrate the sincerity of TPF’s desire to enjoy these liquid arts.

I guess I’m here to solicit your enthusiasm for a trip to Tampa for a right piss up

Holla and be merry

Splendid idea. Might need to be a few months from now, if we Englanders are to be able to attend, but something to look forward to...

I've been to Bern's once. The cellar isn't as fully stocked as it once was, the internet fame has seen a large amount of the very good old rare bottles picked through. Still some amazing bottles though, one just has to look a little deeper and longer and pay a lot more now.

I'll be in for a visit to Bern's, probably with my better half. It's absolutely somewhere I want to visit at some point in the next 10 years.

Plan to fly to the west coast (as in LA) after. There isn't much else to do in Tampa. And my cellar is free :CC6666:

I know the wine director, Eric at Bern's,

We went last feb, on back to back days and it was pretty glorious.

He hooked me up with a btl of Domaine Leroy.
