90% opacity. Bit closed on the nose. More structure than the '04, good balance of acidity, fruit, tannin. Nice port.

V05 95% opacity. A lovely balance of acidity and heat on the finish with a very smooth aftertaste.

Deep red with a narrow rim, hinting at youth. Closed on the nose with a little smoky menthol. Satin smooth entry with balanced fruit ; sweet blackcurrants and powerful acidity. The tannins are subdued and gentle. The late palate is full of silky, perfumed fruit. Concentrated blackcurrants on the finish round off a lovely port. 89/100.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

V05. Big and lovely, soft with raspberries. Immature. Worryingly approachable.
