1935 Kopke White Colheita (bottled 2016)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled 2016. Pale straw colour, less than 5% opaque. Fresh cut grass on the nose, full of dandelion sap. Smooth and honeyed on entry with a hint of gentle tannins. Fragrant dandelion on the palate, mixed with lots of attractive volatile and expressive flavours but offset by a good level of acidity that provides focus and balance. There is a surprising level of bitterness on the aftertaste and finish and an amazing length with a huge, bitter element. 93/100. Tasted 02-Mar-16.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
