2013 Quinta do Vale Meao

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Very dark crimson, intensely coloured with a narrow rim. Subdued on the nose, soft fruit and gentle esteva. Initially slow to make an impact on the palate. Very tannic with modest fruit but air reveals powerful tannins, dark chocolate and black cherry. Huge tannins swamp the fruit but there is a good level of acidity. The aftertaste is big and full of blackcurrant skins, an immense finish. Another 2013 port for the cellar. 89/100. Tasted 02-Mar-16.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
