1976 Quinta do Noval Colheita (bottled 1985)

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Bottled 1985. A glass from the enomatic machine at Hedonism wine shop, London (where it is also for sale by the bottle).

Pale golden orange with a wide and slightly green rim; 15% opaque. Full of bottle stink on the nose, vaguely colheita-like, but clearly in a bottle for a long time. Vaguely sweet on entry, very light with some burnt sugar tones on the late palate. Air mixed with the palate reveals burnt matches. A long finish of burnt sugar and light rose-water. Very light and delicate but overly acidic and bitter. Not a wine of my choice. 81/100. 17-Mar-16.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
