1977 Gould Campbell

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Dark red, no bricking but in early maturity; 90% opaque. Fresh flowers and ripe fruit on the nose, sweet purple plums and ripe damson. Fat and figgy. Lovely mouthfeel, full of fruit but with lively and spicy tannins giving a vibrant flavour profile. Full of fruit but with delicate flower perfume, with clarifying acidity; big palate presence. Great dark cherry and black chocolate aftertaste and huge finish. Wonderful port that still needs several years to soften and mature. 94/100. Drunk 03-Mar-16.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
