1970 Quinta do Noval

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Shipped and bottled by French & Foreign Wines Ltd. Deep polished redwood in colour; 60% opaque. Gentle but complex nose, herbs and spices, star anise and sweet cherries. Lovely balance on entry; sweet dusty cherry and the star anise yet with a delightful focusing acidity. A touch of pepper reveals some almost fully integrated tannins. Very tasty. Fabulous finish, big and full and very long. Given the cork was slightly loose when pulled this is in very fine form. 91/100. 16-Apr-16. Decanted 2 hours.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
