Checked luggage booked on the flight back, and packaging packed, for the 6 bottles of Vesuvio that are coming home with me on Wednesday. Don't forget them Ian!

Had a nice warm up for tomorrow night, consisting of Churchill's Dry White, Burmester 1998 Colheita, Graham's 1982 Colheita, and Smith Woodhouse 2001 LBV. The first three nicely complemented a selection of three aged manchegos while the last went perfectly with chorizo al vino.

T85 decanted at 7.15 this evening and for once I managed to retain the cork in one piece and yes, Daniel, lest you worry I am still lugging your mixed case of Vesuvio up into town tomorrow :D Now I just need to work out exactly where this new venue is...

Looking forward to a relaxed informal affair.

Ian

Wonderful, thank you! :D

Near Bank. Sort of in the middle of the City, a bit more inconvenient than the Bunghole for anyone going to Waterloo, though I have been checking the Waterloo & City line train times...!

Pork pie. Forgot to make a placemat for it though. We may have to eat this discreetly. Image

Thank you, Ian. I'm really looking forward to this one!

The 'Drain' seems to now remain open longer than when I last worked in the City (when there was always a rush for the 10.50pm)-it now runs after midnight! And yes, I see the venue is on Basinghall Strret which I know quite well and only 5 mins from Bank and so better for me than TBH!

Ian

Oh and Daniel, stop goading Julian :D

The Port House at 417 Strand. It seemed slightly pricey, but the food was very good and their Port selection was decent. I have pictures of the menus.

Getting in a brief rest after visiting Firepower and Greenwich Observatory today. Will be on my way shortly!

Must add this to my list of places to try. Sounds very good and tripadvisor had very good write-ups.
