Decanted in 1979. Burnished copper colour with a pale orange rim; 40% opaque. Antiseptic nose, full of iron filings and esteva. Light and smooth in texture. Unpleasant flavours, bitter and with disinfectant. Bitter aftertaste. Bitter finish. Sadly this is a bad bottle. Not rated.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

1964 Niepoort Garrefeira. Tawny orange, 20% opaque. Palate of mid-weight marmalade. Bright heat, soft, lovely balance and length.

This was a disappointment as I was looking forward to trying but the overwhelming taste was one of cough medicine (actifed linctus-not that I am especially expert on cough medicines!). This was the one flawed bottle on the night.
