I have taken the liberty of booking a table at the
Boot & Flogger as AHB and I are both in town and likely to be thirsty next Wednesday! The only space available is the 'Private Room', which AHB advises would not suit more than 6 people for a TPF event. We're full (assuming JDAW gets permission...)
Date: Wednesday 24th May - 6pm
Venue:
Boot & Flogger
Theme: Anything But Vintage (Part....??) - Blind
Attending:
benread
AHB
CPR
JDAW
IDJ123
Doggett (not dining)
Luke tells me there is no need to pre-order food.
Current draft of
the placemats.

Hi Ben
I would be interested in attending - I have a visitor (who is actually a member of the forum) who would also like to attend.

Ben
Although Luke says we could fit 8 in the room, for us with our glass requirement I would strongly suggest no more than 6.
CPR said to me Tuesday that he would probably be available. Could we reserve a set for him until he has confirmed one way or the other please?
Top Ports in 2019: Niepoort VV (1960s bottling) and Quinta do Noval Nacional 2017

Two spaces at the table allocated. Can you confirm the identity of your visitor and I will try and produce place mats.

I have amended the first post accordingly. Assuming CPR & JDAW can attend as indicated, we are at capacity.

I really enjoy traditional LBV and crusted. If those are a problem, I'm happy to drink anything you are happy to drink!

Ah noooo I see you're at capacity! Unless you can find some way of squeezing in a seventh person it will have to be the reserve list please (sniff).

Blind or sighted?
Or a variant. Bottles blind. But each person is to declare for whom the bottle is brought. For example, I have a bottle that I have been saving for BMHR. So that would be “JDAW (for BMHR)”. Would people willing to play with a theme of “Blind, For Somebody”?

It is no longer an issue - see above. (Forest26, thanks for updating me. Hope Wales is kind to you!)

I take that question to be confirmation of your availability?
I do like your variation on the 'blind' theme, although perhaps that should be an optional one. In which case, the bottle could be labelled 'A treat for ABCD' and an extra point could be awarded for anyone even vaguely guessing why it was so labelled. I would have to think very hard to find something suitable, but I don't rule it out!

I'm going to find it a bit of a challenge to fit with both themes. I may have to ignore the ABV requirement if I am also going to make the "...for ABCD..." requirement.

The overarching objective is to drink some interesting port in good company. Don't let rigid observance of the 'theme' distract you from that!

Excellent. I can easily cope with this theme clarification.

I can indeed come along... but may not be there until 7pm or just after as I need to wait for Rosie to get back. Please carry on with the food as I shall skip that on this occasion, and I shall join for the fine juice as soon as I can.
Looking forward to it,
Simon

Placemats: any more bottles ‘for’ anybody? Other changes?
Because on US Legal, I'll print at home this evening.

I plan to bring two half bottles rather than a single full bottle.
