1978 Taylor Vargellas

Post by jdaw1 »

On Thursday 19th October 2017 a small emergency was held at the Boot & Flogger, with five attendees. The theme was ‘Mature V.P. or L.B.V.’, blind, and both types showed beautifully.

TV78, labelled ARM, decanted 09:00. Red-red-brown, opacity not noted. Some heat, the centre, and the fruit faded. But a lovely size and very very long: really very good slightly-over-mature VP.

I guessed a non-Symington ’80. It was ’78: probably my best ever ’78. Voted a scattering of points, enough for third-equal.

40% opacity, brown-red, slightly cloudy. Soft red fruits on the nose. Lovely chewy mouthfeel, great balance. sweet strawberries, very soft. My first taste of TV78 I believe. Very nice indeed, won't improve from here but very enjoyable.
