General characteristics of different shippers

Apologies if this is a naive question, but I am just getting introduced to Port and was wondering if there are any unique characteristics common to particular shippers? (For example, Dow's is dry, Fonseca is fruity, Graham's is austere, etc.)

I understand that different vintages from the same shipper can differ greatly, but I was wondering if there are any common defining characteristics that you look for in a particular shipper, year to year.

I always and consistently find Warre to be beautifully balanced and very elegant, especially when mature.

I admit to laziness! Thanks for the links.
