Top Ports in 2021: Niepoort Garrafeira 1931; Niepoort VV (1960s bottling) and Cockburn 1969 Single Harvest Tawny

Top Port in 2022 so far: the most stunning bottle of Quinta do Noval Nacional 1931. I have never drunk such a wonderful bottle of Port.

Green Room booked. I have given Gary the option to evict us if a better offer should come along.

Theme? 1977 — 1985? Other?

I shall bring a bottle of Fonseca 1977, so we can do the traditional 1976 - 1977 comparison.

Mike told me G70.

I have another extra guest, Lizzie, on whose behalf will be brought a G85.Also, I want to taste my cask sample of Churchill 2020, so bringing that.

Six people, seven bottles — I’ll request 48 glasses.

Fonseca 1977 opened at 21.00 yesterday and decanted at 10.30 today. Smells fabulous.

I have arrived in London a little early but have found some entertainment more enjoyable than in St. John’s Wood — where I note it is a Surrey man leading the way.

We might have been moved from the Green Room to the Red Room. And we might not.

I decanted 1pm.
