2009 Quevedo Sample Touriga Francesa

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

In 2009 Quevedo bottled some of their Vintage Port varietals in quarter bottles. The following notes are for the wines on a Pop and Pour basis.

Touriga Franca: the darkest of the five varietals. Some bottle stink on the nose but under that is some blueberry. Plenty of acidity and lots of tannin on the palate, so much that the fruit struggles to make it through. The fruit finally appears on the mid-palate as a lovely fragrant raspberry. Good vibrant fruit aftertaste, before a bitter cranberry and blood orange finish. Attractive, not great.  86/100. Tasted 03-Mar-23. Pop 'n' pour.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
