2000 Martinez

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

Martinez 2000 Vintage Port, decanted 1 day. When first opened the wine had a little bottle stink and was full of harsh and bitter fruit; the wine completely out of balance. The wine improved with a couple of hours but was significantly better the following day, when this tasting note was written. Dark black fruit with a little tobacco ash in the palate. The tannins are still dark and a little bitter, but the wine has a dark chocolate bitterness in its black cherry core, especially prominent on the aftertaste and finish. 87/100. Opened 05-Jan-24. Tasting note written after 1 day in the decanter.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
