Mature red colour, 60% opaque. Perfumed and attractive on the nose. Smooth texture on the palate, satin, bringing rich Christmas cake flavours. Tannins blossom in the fruit, delivering a complete panoply of flavours on the aftertaste. Rich, but balanced; fruity but mature. The red cherry fruit leads on the aftertaste, winding its way across the palate. Really well poised with plenty of time ahead of it for further development. Superb. Served blind, was guessed to be Fonseca 1966. 94/100. Tasted 28-Dec-23.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
