Blind Fun - 11th March

Post by cem »

After the December blind tasting which was a lot of fun with some lovely wines, the Red Room at the B&F is booked for Monday 11th March for another round.

Official Start Time: 6pm (though a few of us will be there from 4pm onwards).

Rule 1: Bring at least one blind bottle of either fortified red or unfortified red.

Rule 2: No 21st Century wines.

That's it. Same format as before with Voting best fortifieds and best unfortifieds followed by guess the vintage/producer.

I'll bring 4 fortifieds and 4 unfortifieds to kick each category off.

We have a quorum of Tony, Alex B, Neil, Cliff, Julian and Harry to start, with places for up to 14 people total.

Please put your name down if interested. So far we have:
  1. Tony
  2. Cliff
  3. Alex B.
  4. Neil C.
  5. Julian W.
  6. Harry
  7. Martin C.
  8. George
  9. Mike M.
  10. Ian J.
Reserves:
  • Charles R.
Cheers Cliff

Current draft of the placemats.

I've discovered in life that one can never have enough Durands!

For reason of table space, please can it be restricted to eleven people, so at most one more.

How pedantic are you?

Damn those rules! I had chosen the two wines I was bringing but one falls outside the rules.

Hmm…
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.

Hence they need separate voting pages. Cliff has revealed four of each; Alex has told me that his is fortified; and I reveal likewise. These implemented (see first post): others welcome to reveal their fortifiedness, or not.

Aha! I have just re-read the rules and I am fully compliant. I shall be bringing two bottles of fortified wines.

Please, from the menu: Devon Crab; Steak and Claret Pie, and carrots; Welsh Rarebit.

(Edited after George’s post: he was correct to add carrots.)
