1978 Quarles Harris LBV

Post by nac »

The first of two bottles from a wooden presentation pack purchased in December 2021 from BidForWine.

Opened and double-decanted at 0800 on the morning of the Aged LBVs tasting.

T-stopper cork which was in pretty good condition. Fair amount of sediment and colour starting to brown.

QA sample not great.

Brown, burnt fudge colour. Not so much ditchwater brown as Christmas cake brown. 2D chocolate current juice, the finish saying hello to the fully oxidised fluffy caramel era. A lot of oomph, albeit indicative of erstwhile greatness.

QH78 LBV. Red-brown, 50% opaque. Nose so revolting that not tasted.

Brownish. Yellow rim. Prunes on nose. Chocolate and cream on palate. A little tea.
