[quote="uncle tomAt this point I would guess the potential issue is ...getting home tomorrow. [/quote]
My 400+ mile drive to Edinburgh on Friday could be interesting  - The last time I drove from Saffron Walden to Edinburgh it took me 14 hours!

Hi Derek,

uups, sorry to say I fear you will have a long journey ahead. I hope for you it will be not too bad in the end.

Since BA is going to go on strike over christmas I highly likely end up driving to Germany instead of flying to see my mother. Will book Lufthansa next time to avoid the ~2000km round turn :(

In case it is really bad we could do an "after tasting" on Friday evening in London somewhere  :)

cu tonight

I hope everyone had / has the same smooth journey home that I have just experienced. Against all expectations, the M11 and M25 were virtually empty and as close to joyous as you can get in terms of driving on them!

My only problem was getting off the M6 at Coventry, twenty minutes on the slip road. All else was smooth. Essex and Cambridgeshire need some gritters though.

Great night - thanks for organising Tom.

My journey was for the circumstances (snow etc. in England) also very smooth. All was perfectly on time until the train got near Liverpool Street, it picked up 20 minutes delay due to waiting for a platform to become free.

Also thank you Tom for organising such an excellent evening!

regards

Tom,

thanks a lot again for all the organisation. Since it was the first time for me to join this christmas offline, I very much enjoyed it and promise that I will pour my Port into smaller glasses again next time (the ones I am used to). Thanks also to Derek for getting me to the airport on Friday.

Merry christmas

Axel
