Ashes predictions?
Ashes predictions?
Anyone care to debate the likelt result of the impending Ashes series? I for one am very excited and have discovered one advantage of the nocturnal feeding habits of newborn babies. I can earn brownie points doing the overnight feeds and watch the cricket!
My prediction is 3-1 to England.

My prediction is that I will not stay up to watch the cricket.
Apart from the last day of the last test if it looks like Australia are about to win.

I'm no expert, but I'm guessing that losing your first two hitters for 29 runs isn't a great start to an Ashes series?

Re: Ashes predictions?
I think the intelligent money at the bookmakers was right - Australia are favourites to win the series and I think that's right. 3-1 to Australia, with England winning the last test once the Aussies have secured the Ashes.
Or perhaps I'm just in a grumpy mood. I will have the radio on tonight while "asleep" from 11:30pm.

I have just got up and am no longer feeling very optimistic!

Re: Ashes predictions?
OK. Who are those imposters in Australia and what have they done with the real England cricket team. They may look like the England players who lefty these shores a month ago, but they are clearly not the same people.
The real England cricket team don't play like this. KP doesn't make big scores any more - he always throws his wicket away with a stupid shot once he gets settled in. Jonathan Trott can't field for toffee and Jimmy Anderson always tries too hard.
So could that team be Australia A in disguise, trying to make a point about being overlooked by the Aussie selectors...

Re: Ashes predictions?
We may even see Australia praying for rain to save a test match. How very English that would be!

I think this will all be over before we get to Melbourne...for those who do not understand it means we win in Perth and retain the Ashes...whoopdewoo!!!
Re: Ashes predictions?
It is strange how quiet my Aussie cricket loving friend has gone since the end of day 1 of the 1st Test!

Re: Ashes predictions?
Just taken 5 Aussies down to London from Stansted Airport and for some reason they didn't want to talk about the cricket...I wonder why
Re: Ashes predictions?
My great-great-grandad is an Australian immigrant and he thinks we're going to turn it around in the next test.
I don't watch cricket very often but what has confused me more than anything from this series is that I haven't heard the comentators talking about what I thought was a mandatory "England middle-order collapse". Has that rule been removed from the game?

It has not been removed, but the mantle is now taken up by Australia. At Adelaide, Australia lost 4 wickets for 25 runs in 6 overs to seal the win for England!DRT wrote:I don't watch cricket very often but what has confused me more than anything from this series is that I haven't heard the comentators talking about what I thought was a mandatory "England middle-order collapse". OK. I confess. I am really not used to watching an England side that wins. It's a very odd feeling.

I predict a miraculous victory for Australia.
