Deep red, still quite youthful, 95% opaque. Sturdy, fruit (blackcurrants) dominated - lots of youthful maturity. Rich mouthfeel, big-bodied with young and lively tannins. Mouthfilling - a big port. Slight burn on the afteratse before an immensely long finish dominated by dry fruit. A big wine which will improve with another 10 years or more. Guessed to be a Fonseca 1985. 91/100.

No formal notes, but this was a good bottle, despite a hint of VA.

It was a pity that jdaw1 was not here to try this as it may have started to address his scepticism over this port.
