Wed 22nd Feb 2012, Jubilee

Organise events to meet up and drink Port. You may, of course, forego the drinking and just meet, but we're sure that drinking would be more fun.

Following discussion in the thread resulting in a tasting on Wed 8th Feb, there is also to be a tasting on Wed 22nd Feb 2012, in which bottles should have some connection, however tenuous, with Jubilee.

We need to agree a location.

I suggest that we hold one Feb event in TCP (convenient for BMHR and AHB when they have to leave for home) and one in TBH (convenient for many others when they have to head home).

Unless anyone has a strong objection, I suggest 22nd Feb is in TCP.

I'm in, and have selected a suitable bottle.

Any preference whether this should be a tasting with bottles announced before arrival or blind?

Why not bring one of you tregnums of Sandeman 1887?

You should have told me—I had it last week with curry. If only I had known that you might want it.

While my first response was to say yes, I am not gong to make it that easy. Are you really saying that you cannot find a bottle of port that you could link in some remote and spurious manner to the Queen, her jubilee, her predecessors or her family?

Whilst I would not want to see one of Her Majesty's loyal subjects go thirsty on this particular occasion, I do agree with AHB that you need to try harder before we give in.

So far, there appear to be 3 confirmed attendees - AHB, DRT CMAG and JDAW; RAYC as probable. This is a sufficient quorum to ensure the offline goes ahead, but I need to organise a table and large steaks.

Could anyone planning to attend please say so soon, and whether they need a steak ordered.

Thanks.

I can confirm that I am one of the 5 confirmed attendees and will be in need of a large steak, preferably the bone-in rib.

OK. CMAG emailed me to change his status from probable to confirmed. I edited my post but failed to edit the number of attendees.

Hey ho. At least we don't have a numbers errors thread.
