On Wednesday 8th February 2012 four port enthusiasts met in The Bung Hole to enjoy some fine port, served blind. And we did. Links:

I99: decanted 3pm. Red-purple, 90% opaque. Nosing of over-ripe fruits: prunes, plums, even rotting strawberries. Nose good and interesting. Alas te palate much lighter than heralded by the nose. Heat mid-palate. Starts with sweet fruit but quickly becomes dry with heat. Nose much better than mouth.

Lots of dark fruits, but quite tight and closed. Light mouthfeel, making me think it is not VP. Sweet entry but then very dry with some bitterness in the finish.

+24 hours - now very stewed on the nose with some VA. Was better yesterday.

Dark in colour, with cabbage on the nose but not in the taste, medium fruit; ok and interesting to try the more unusual house, but outclassed by the rest of the wines on this evening.

D+12 days

Less offensive nose but still a bit nailvarnishy. Quite pleasant to drink.
