Deep orange in colour, slightly cloudy; perhaps 15% opaque. Some heat and pine needles on the nose, but not much showing. Sweet entry, lots of sweet sugary tones but the fruit is slow to show its cinammon and stewed redcurrant flavours. Quite light and modest on the palate. Dry aftertaste, with lots of bitter raisins and nut skins on the finish. Very dry and very elegant. Served blind this was guessed to be a Warre 1960. 87/100.
Top Ports in 2023: Taylor 1896 Colheita, b. 2021. A perfect Port.

2024: Niepoort 1900 Colheita, b.1971. A near perfect Port.
