1966 Taylor

Some of the obvious suspects gathered, with Stephanie T. Galley (friend of wife of jdaw1), in The Bung Hole, to drink some 1966s.

T66, red, touch of brown, 40% opaque. Nose had heat and tannin. Dry, but unctuous. Perhaps a little simple.

Grants of St James. Deep red, firm core; 45% opaque. Very faint on the nose, with a slight touch of spearmint. Modest entry, initially hollow but then shows dry fruit and smokey tonnins. Develops nicely on the palate and grows well to deliver a lovely flavour. Huge burst of lavender and violets on the aftertaste, then a lovely long finish of leather and clover honey. Fabulous port on the late palate and finish, but lacking on the nose. Enjoyably dry. 92/100.
