1934 Dalva colheita

Postby jdaw1 » 18:50 Thu 03 May 2012

On Wednesday 2nd May 2012 Johnny Symington joined some regulars at The Bung Hole†, partly to show off the Graham 1952 Single Harvest Tawny. All this after a day spent at The Big Fortified Tasting.

† We are boycotting the corporately anodyne new name. Really, what snorey-dull person did that?

Wolfgang wasn’t well, and when Richard Mayson arrived, seemed to seize the opportunity to retreat to bed. Get well.

Bad news and good news. Bad first: I made the mistake of tasting this last, which left me noting only “incredibly concentrated”. Which it was. Good news: I have the remainder of the bottle, which will come to WS’s next event.

Bottled 1973. Deep brown, mahogany colour with a green tinge. Strong VA on the nose, but not dominating over the concentrated and attractive notes. Intense palate, hugh acidity and a surprising tannic dryness on the palate. Intense acidity burns on the aftertaste. Huge and lingering finish full of coffee. 93/100.
