1977 Niepoort

Postby jdaw1 » 18:51 Thu 03 May 2012

On Wednesday 2nd May 2012 Johnny Symington joined some regulars at The Bung Hole†, partly to show off the Graham 1952 Single Harvest Tawny. All this after a day spent at The Big Fortified Tasting.

† We are boycotting the corporately anodyne new name. Really, what snorey-dull person did that?

Ni77, brought by CMAG. red-brown, 50% opaque. And the texture was wonderful: that unctuousness in a rich lively port is a joy. Upon reflection, perhaps Ni77 was guessable, even if not guessed by me.

Deep orange - a lovely burnished red. Delightful nose, full of sweet oranges. Lovely texture, mature and delicious; thick and unctuous. Big flavours all over the palate. Spicy. Slight heat on the aftertaste before a long and absolutely delicious finish. Sublime port. 94/100.
