1960 Dow

Postby jdaw1 » 18:52 Thu 03 May 2012

On Wednesday 2nd May 2012 Johnny Symington joined some regulars at The Bung Hole†, partly to show off the Graham 1952 Single Harvest Tawny. All this after a day spent at The Big Fortified Tasting.

† We are boycotting the corporately anodyne new name. Really, what snorey-dull person did that?

D60, brought by THRA, and my last TN for vintage port at the end of a very long day. “red-brown”, “heat then sugar-sweetness”. Soon after I retired to bed.

Deep burnished gold. Spicy nose, lifted and attractive; lots of fruit. Restrained fruit on entry, huge levels of acidity subduing the strawberry fruit. Lovely sweet red fruit aftertaste, and a long lingering curry leaf finish. Really nice port. 91/100.

Curry leaves would have to be an unusual descriptor for an aged VP.
