Wed 24 April - BFT 4 2013

Post by Alex Bridgeman »

April 24th 2013 was the date on which the fourth BFT took place at Glazier's Hall in London. A wide variety of fortified wines were on show to the trade, including a range of 2011 Vintage Ports around 300 other ports, madeiras, sherries etc. and six tutored tastings.

The show continues to grow and was extremely successful. I concentrated mainly on the 2011 ports, the Ramos Pinto / Niepoort tutored tasting and only had the chance to try a handful of other ports.

Other TPF members have already posted tasting notes for some of the wines at the show, including the following:
10 yo Niepoort White Tawny
2003 Kopke White Colheita
20 yo Kopke White Tawny
2007 Quinta da Ervamoira vintage port
1996 Fonseca Guimaraens vintage port
1942 Niepoort vintage port

1977 Niepoort vintage port

2003 Quinta do Noval vintage port
2007 Quinta do Noval vintage port
1998 Quinta do Panascal vintage port
2009 Quinta do Passadouro vintage port
2009 Pintas vintage port
1924 Ramos Pinto vintage port
1970 Ramos Pinto vintage port
1983 Ramos Pinto vintage port
1994 Ramos Pinto vintage port
1997 Ramos Pinto vintage port

Top Ports in 2021: Niepoort Garrafeira 1931; Niepoort VV (1960s bottling) and Cockburn 1969 Single Harvest Tawny

Top Port in 2022 so far: the most stunning bottle of Quinta do Noval Nacional 1931. I have never drunk such a wonderful bottle of Port.

All my BFT notes have now been put onto TPF and are included in the links on the first post in this thread.
