G83. A magnum decanter, with a 750 bottle next to it. The obvious question was asked, and two bottles had been decanted into the large decanter. Michael Schuster told me that, on opening, the two bottles had been identical.

I did not take a note, but recall not liking the nose.

Don't recall not liking it, but also did not seem to be compelled to put pen to paper for a note. And the stilton was in play by now also...

I did not take a note, but recall enjoying a couple of very nice glasses of semi-mature VP after a long list of mostly impenetrable 1994s.

Medium depth rim, opaque centre. In appearance this looked less evolved than the Graham 1994 shown alongside! The nose is dominated by VA and shows little else. VA also shows on the initial impact and dominates the mid-palate, leading to a harshness on the late palate. Not good, a poor bottle. Not rated.

This showed me the risks of pouring two bottles into a single decanter. If you're ever tempted to do this - don't! The result is inevitably the lowest common denominator.
