At the request of Glenn E., passing through London on the way to Porto, an evening of port tasting with the theme "Variety is the Spice of Life". With TBH closed for refurbishment, this was held at Davy’s at Woolgate Bar and Brasserie where we were looked after very well.

1985 Fonseca
Re: 1985 Fonseca
80% opacity, dusty dark dark red with purple rim. On the nose some fruit, plums and mild tobacco. Smooth entry, dark fruit, dry finish. Tastes young, closed. Really not on the same level as others I have had recently. Nothing wrong with it, but suspect this particular bottle would have been better opened in 2020.
Re: 1985 Fonseca
quite dark, almost as dark as ink, subdued nose, a little bit of eucalyptus, in the background there is a little bit of pepper, in the mouth rather pale, quite sweet, a rather short finish. I had the F85 once before in 2011 and it was really delicious. The bottle we tried was galaxies away from this. By the way, I brought the F85 and it was sourced from BBR.
