1985 Churchill

Post by PhilW »

At the request of Glenn E., passing through London on the way to Porto, an evening of port tasting with the theme "Variety is the Spice of Life". With TBH closed for refurbishment, this was held at Davy’s at Woolgate Bar and Brasserie where we were looked after very well.

30% opacity, red brown. Nose a bit stewey, toffee behind the fruit, orange marmalade. Smooth entry, heat builds to quite a sharp bite. This was the last I tasted and the note is a bit sparse! I do recall that this was the best of the '85s on the night for me.

cherry-red, smells of eucalyptus, a very pleasant mouth, the finish is rather short, nevertheless a good port, much better than the other big three '85s, thanks Glenn for sharing
