1985 Dow

Post by jdaw1 »

Just three of us, CPR, THRA and JDAW, met in the Green Room of The Boot & Flogger for a tasting with the theme ‘Blind with a clue’.

D85. Bright red, 50% opaque, slightly cloudy. Palate grassy or herby. Bright fruits, mid weight, good sweetness. Good Port.

The clue was that CPR had never had it (and fancied something different). The clue nudged me away from big-shipper-big-year possibilities. The grassiness made me think Smith Woodhouse, and the general development was 1985ish. Tom guessed Sandeman of the same vintage, and we were both correct about the year.
