Re: 1977's - Tue 11th June 2024
The ovens can hold 20+ people around a table for dinner. Perhaps that would give more space for more stems. The current design, twenty-four circles on trimmed /A2 , has a width of 594mm ≈ /A4 × 2.83, so would fit comfortably in the Red Room. But we are T minus fifteen days: how likely is it that we...

Re: 1977's - Tue 11th June 2024
24 glasses + 1 spare, times 14 people, is 350 stems. It might be polite to give the B&F more advance notice of plans than has hitherto been customary.

Re: 1977's - Tue 11th June 2024
For this small humble tasting, the placemats have been updated (images in first post ). Somebody please check. The glasses pages are now on A2, which is to be trimmed. Top trim 81.5mm ~= 3.21" ~= 231pt below top edge of A2 paper. Post-trim page height ~= 338.5mm ~= 13.33" ~= 959pt.

Re: 1977's - Tue 11th June 2024
I think the record for a large tasting is still the Fonseca tasting many years ago at the RAF club. Around 34-ish bottles (including dinner wines, excluding beer) IIRC. We started early, took a dinner break, and came back for round two. Worked out very nicely for so many bottles. 04 Apr 2011, Fonse...

Re: Strawberry Fields Forever (1st July - Spot The Taylor Vertical)
Should we ask somebody such as Glenn to act as co-ordinator? That is, we reveal possibilities to him; he selects from those possibilities to prevent too many overlaps (not necessarily preventing all) and to further such mischief as he thinks would be most amusing. Glenn, by WhatsApp: I'm happy to s...

- Okay I've just read your blinding techniques, so something of that ilk will be required. Explanation of the blinding technique used for the 1958 horizontal (June 2014). Taking the San Pelligrino bottles as an example, I think it would be best if everyone decanted in the same method. I've found re...

Re: Strawberry Fields Forever (1st July - Spot The Taylor Vertical)
85 x 2 I can provide one or two ’70s and a few ’85s. Are there any rules about which shippers may or may not be brought? Cliff providing all the Taylors , so presumably non-Cliff people must bring non-Taylors. Are there other constraints? Should we ask somebody such as Glenn to act as co-ordinator?...

Re: 1977's - Tue 11th June 2024
There will be fourteen of us, likely all full-capacity drinkers, and 14 × 1¼ = 17½. Table space limits us to 1×A3 + 1×A4, so to about 15 + 6 = 21 glasses. Would it be wrong to have between 18 and 20? Table space is a genuine constraint. It is more efficient if printing onto trimmed /A2 (e.g., Vesuv...

Re: 1977's - Tue 11th June 2024
Yes and ‘M’ is on the bottle list but not the placemats as far as I can see. Possibly because we don't know what 'M' is? It might be Morgan (Mg), Martinez (Mz), Martha (Mt), Mackenzie (Mk), Messias (Ms) or possibly something else; Martin? Are you hypothesising Mackenzie 1977 and Martinez 1977 befor...

I am bringing two extra people, Rachel M. and Kyleigh L., met recently (as in, four hours ago) at a Spanish tasting.
Who is to print the placemats?

Re: 1977's - June 11th 2024
In a recent Dr Who episode they returned to June 2024, and behold screen grab. The Time Lords knew that this was going to happen.
Luckily, the stairs at the B&F are Dalek-proof.

G03, dark dark red, 80% opaque. Big and sumptuous, spice mid palate, lots of dark fruit especially blackberries. Liked.
