Re: Monday 19th October 2026 - a vertical of old Sandeman

I propose another rule: “AHB is dictator”.

His acolytes are vaguely aware that the dictator likes old, that the dictator likes large, that the dictator likes tappit hen more than tregnum, that the dictator likes good fill levels, and that the dictator likes time to write his tasting notes.

Foodstuffs being considered include Scouse, sighted and blind. Welsh rarebit training is soon to commence.

It is not a restaurant. Broadly (with vegetarian exception), we will be having the same thing — and plenty of it.

On Tuesday 10th November 2026, might people be interested in a theme of ‘Blind mature SQVP’, echoing the themes of the tastings on Thu 7th Sep 2017, Wed 14th Mar 2018, and Tue 30th Oct 2018 (“mature defined as >20 years since the vintage”)?

Splendid evening, of two halves, They were pale and mature; and then they were baga-dark and baga-hollowness. Very very splendid were the 1926 and 1970 . Several of those absent, MJRM CPR JDF, sent their bottles despite owners’ absence: thank you kindly. My TNs posted: others, please do likewise ( m...

RP80. The colours changed: ≥1980 being near-black 98% opaque. Palate harmless: some dark fruit, but empty. Somebody near me — words stolen, credit not given by failure of memory — said “low-personality wine”, which was very correct.
