1970 Croft

Cr70 an absolutely stunning port to celebrate the new year. A beautiful, rich, red colour that certainly looked younger than it's 45 years and very clear. Full of powerful fruits, and absolutely delicious. Lots of heat showing when I tried a bit when first decanted, but at D+8 the fire had softened ...

Good to know Anthony...thanks for that. It looks like the Tawny/colheita tasting will be later in the year, but I hope we get to meet before that. All the best for the new year.

NV Taylor Crusted 1978

NV Taylor Crusted Bottled 1978 Browning with a thinning rim. At D+4hrs v closed, with a musty nose. I almost gave up on this but returned to it D+24hrs and to my surprise found a very pleasant port with nice fruits showing through, no unpleasantness on the nose and a medium length smooth finish that...

A Young Vintage Port, Sighted From me, Ferreira 2007. When should I decant? I hope that was aimed at everyone :?: as I am afraid I am not sure of the optimum time for decanting younger ports. My port is not quite as young...but I hope young enough. A Sandeman 2000. A recent tasting note from AHB su...

D66 A half bottle of Dow 1966 to accompany the set up for the 75@40 tasting as part of an new tradition that Tom initiated. Bottle from the wine society. Beautiful red, clear body. Thinning on the rim. Good berry fruits and cherry on the nose and body of the taste, with a bit of heat on the finish t...

T75 Third deepest in colour and almost a purply red still. Lots of fruits and a lovely balanced taste with a smooth heat picking up for a lovely follow through to a long finish. Very nice. As the Dow, it felt like it may have more to give in a couple of years.

Re: 1975 Croft

Cr75 The deepest ruby colour of all with a fantastic nose of balanced fruits. This was a very fine port and had great weight on the palate and through to a very long and satisying finish. A really lovey vintage port. This had shown well right from the opening earlier in the day, and exuded the class...

W75 A very soft and smooth medium colour, fruity port that was very tasty and with a nice finish. (Tom indicated it was from a second bottling that doesn't seem to have the alcohol or heat known for Warre's. I enjoyed another bottle on Christmas day that did have the heat and fire expected that was ...

Beautifully smooth and balanced, A very fine port from this vintage, and one that may have more time to go yet. I was going to open a tappit hen of this for NYE but may hold off fo...

QH75 A lighter browning red. Showing more of a tawning than some with caramels, toffee and some butterscotch that follow the early taste of fruits. Medium heat on the finish. A nice glass.

GC75 A very smooth, and nice drinking port that didn’t show much in comparison with the others. Perfectly pleasant but nothing of note to say about it other than smooth, with a touch of heat at the back of the throat on the finish. (I had a much nicer bottle on Boxing day that was beautiful - TN to ...

S75 I enjoyed this glass and it had lots of heat and body, but Tony said that it had faded from it's earlier decant, and that the fruits were not showing anywhere near as much. I would like to try this one again and hopefully get an example with the fruits showing well as it was still a nice port re...

Ni57 Colheita. Very brown and clouded. Should have been decanted the night before to clear the sediment before bringing to the B&F rather than just the 4 hours. Lovely caramels and nuts on the taste. A lovely glass, but could have been so much more. 90 points
