It was shown at the b.f.t. And was rich but balanced with lovely acidity on the finish. Would liked to compare it with the 40YO as I would with others.

The 50YO, Very very Old and especially the 1896 were drinking beautifully at the b.f.t.

This reminds me that I never got the first issue… Alex, don’t still have any spare copies?

Given we've only recently done probably the largest ever tasting of 55s, not sure there's a rush for that. And I think CEM is considering do it again anyway. 7...

I’ve just opened a bottle of Sandeman 2007 LBV. While it’s nowhere near the age that Andy and Tom have been discussing, I can confirm that with 17 years of aging, this LBV is effing delicious! Good to know. When I had a Sandeman 2011 LBV a few years ago in lock down, it seemed it may need 47 years ...

I have other commitments now for this date so am unable to step up from the reserves. I hope that it is even better than the last time these lovely wines were tasted together. Enjoy!

Great article Axel… interesting notes and I have added the Taylor Vargellas 1970 to the hope to try ‘bucket list’, and hopefully against the classic VP.

Agree with Phil’s analysis and also sentiment… I am not quite in a position to confirm as I write so would be happy to swap with Axel and Ralph and drop to the reserve list.

Disappointed to have missed the previous auction with the La Tache 1990 going for such a bargain price! Good luck with the sale.
